With many months in the planning, The Power Team came
to our church April 21-25 to hold a crusade. The Power Team is based out of Dallas, Texas, and features world-class
athletes who perform feats of strength for the glory of the Lord! Just some of power demonstrations we witnessed during
the crusade were: ripping phone books in two; bending steel bars and horseshoes; ripping license plates in two; rolling
up skillets into burritos; breaking concrete blocks with their heads, elbows, and arms (sometimes while on fire!); and breaking
blocks of ice!
We all had a ball during the crusade! My husband assisted on the stage
crew and my children and I got to watch every night of the event from second row seats. We were honored to have John
Kopta, senior member of The Power Team; Mark Kerr, drug-free World's Strongest Man; Joel "No Fear" Caldwell, martial
arts State Champion; and Matt Dopson, a semi-pro football player. All of these guys were dynamic speakers as well as
world-class athletes.
The men were allowed to speak in nine area schools during their visit.
School assemblies are completely secular in their content as the men speak about peer pressure, drug and alcohol abuse,
suicide and depression, and how "true love waits."
We were truly blessed to have John, Mark, Joel, and Matt at our church.
While we watched their exciting performances, we also enjoyed their company in Christian fellowship and got to know
them on a personal level. They are husbands and fathers who are Promisekeepers to their families, yet they travel with
The Power Team because of their love for the Lord and to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
*Special Note: We had over 3500 individuals attend our event with
450 making decisions for the Lord. At each of the nine schools visited, there was an average of 1200-1500 students at
each school and some of these students and staff attended the evening services. We had many of the students
and one principal give their lives to the Lord!
